Usage

The Usage Breakdown page provides a detailed and transparent view of how you are consuming platform resources. It helps you monitor your activity against your plan's allowances, understand how usage translates into costs, and analyse trends over time.

This guide will walk you through each component of the Usage Breakdown dashboard so you can effectively manage your account's consumption.

  1. Log in to your UserFlux dashboard.

  2. In the top-left corner of the navigation menu, click on the Organisation dropdown.

  3. Select Usage from the menu.

The Usage Breakdown Dashboard

The dashboard gives you a comprehensive overview of your consumption for a selected billing period, broken down by category, daily volume, and cost.

Selecting the Billing Period

At the top-right of the page, you'll find a date range selector. You can use this to view your usage data for the current billing cycle or analyse any previous period.

Usage Summary by Category

The top section of the dashboard summarises your total consumption and costs for the selected period, organised by feature category.

  • Infrastructure: This reflects the fixed cost associated with your plan's infrastructure, such as whether you are on a shared or dedicated setup.

  • Audiences: Shows your consumption of audience-related events against your monthly allowance.

  • Workflows: Displays your usage of workflow executions.

  • Destinations: Tracks the volume of data sent to your connected destinations.

  • Analytics: Monitors the number of analytics events processed.

For each category, you can see the volume of usage for the period and the associated cost.

Tip: Understanding Included Allowances Your plan includes a generous monthly allowance for key features. For example, your plan might include the "first 1m included per month" for Audiences. As long as your consumption stays within this limit, the Usage Cost for that category will remain at $0. Overage charges will only apply if you exceed this included amount. Typically you will be on a shared infrastructure plan which starts at $300 per month which includes 1,000,000 audience events, 1,000,000 work flows, 1,000,000 destinations and 10,000 analytics per month.

The Current bill total at the bottom of this section provides a running total of all fixed and usage-based costs for the period.

Analysing Daily Usage with the Graph

The central graph provides a visual representation of your daily activity throughout the selected billing period. You can toggle between two views:

  • Daily Volume: This view displays the quantity of events processed each day. The stacked bar chart uses different colours to represent each category (e.g., Audiences, Workflows), making it easy to see which features are driving the most activity. Hover your cursor over any bar to see a precise breakdown of that day's volume by category.

  • Daily Usage Cost: This view shows the cost incurred each day. If your usage is within your plan's limits, this graph will be flat at $0. If you incur overage charges, this graph will help you identify which days generated those costs.

You can also use the Overall / By Category toggle to change the graph's display from a stacked, multi-coloured view to an aggregated, single-colour view of total daily volume.
