Usage

The Usage Breakdown page provides a detailed and transparent view of how your organisation is consuming platform resources. It helps you to monitor your activity against your plan's allowances, understand how usage translates into costs, and analyse trends over time.

This guide will walk you through each component of the Usage Breakdown dashboard so you can effectively manage your account's consumption and forecast future expenditure.

You can access your usage data directly from the main dashboard.

  1. Click the Organisation icon in the top section of the left-hand navigation menu.

  2. Select Usage from the dropdown list that appears.

Understanding the Usage Breakdown Dashboard

The dashboard provides a comprehensive overview of your consumption for a selected billing period, broken down by category, daily volume, and cost.

Selecting the Billing Period

At the top-right of the page, you will find a date range selector. This allows you to view usage data for the current billing cycle or analyse any previous period.

  1. Click on the date selector to open the dropdown menu.

  2. Choose a predefined range (e.g., last 30 days) or select a specific start and end date. The dashboard will automatically refresh to display the data for your selected period.

Usage Summary

The top section of the dashboard summarises your total consumption for the selected period, organised by feature category. This gives you a high-level snapshot of your activity.

Key categories include:

  • Audiences: Consumption related to audience events and profile updates.

  • User Journeys: Usage of journey executions and steps.

  • Automations: The volume of automation triggers and actions.

  • APIs: The number of API requests made.

At the bottom of this section, the Current bill total provides a running total of all costs for the selected period.

Analysing the Daily Usage Graph

The central graph provides a visual representation of your daily activity. This is crucial for identifying usage spikes and understanding consumption patterns.

You can interact with the graph in several ways:

  • Hover for Details: Hover your cursor over any bar in the chart. A tooltip will appear showing a precise breakdown of that day's volume by category.

  • Switch Views: Use the Daily Volume and Daily Cost tabs to switch the graph's focus between the number of actions performed and the associated cost.

  • Toggle Aggregation: Use the Overall / By Category toggle to change the graph's display:

    • By Category: This default view uses a stacked bar chart with different colours to represent each category (e.g., Audiences, Automations). This makes it easy to see which features are driving the most activity on any given day.

    • Overall: This view aggregates all categories into a single-coloured bar, showing the total daily volume or cost.

Detailed Usage Table

For the most granular view, refer to the table at the bottom of the page. It breaks down your consumption into specific sub-categories, providing precise volume counts and the associated cost for each.

This table provides a line-by-line itemisation of every billable action, such as:

  • Profile Updates

  • New Profile Events

  • Profile State Evaluations

  • User Flow Steps

  • Destination Syncs

  • Data API Requests

The Total row at the bottom sums up the volume and cost columns, giving you a final tally that matches the 'Current bill total' in the summary section.

[TIP] Understanding Included Allowances Your plan includes a generous monthly allowance for key features. For example, a plan might include one million audience events per month. As long as your consumption stays within this limit, the cost for that category will remain at $0. Overage charges only apply if you exceed this included amount. The Daily Cost graph is an excellent way to see exactly when you cross this threshold.

How Usage is Calculated and Billed

Our pricing is designed to be transparent and scalable. It typically consists of a base monthly fee that includes a substantial volume of events, with additional usage billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.

To understand the specific rates and estimate your potential costs, you can use the interactive calculator on our public pricing page.

  1. Navigate to our main website's pricing page. - https://www.userflux.co/pricing

  2. Review the features included in the base plan.

  3. Scroll down to the 'Rates after monthly inclusions' section.

  4. Use the sliders to input your estimated monthly volume for different categories (e.g., Profile Events, Profile Changes).

  5. The 'Estimated Monthly Total' will update in real-time to reflect your projected costs.
